Well, YES this is ME 'Jimmy Smith' - NOT the American Guy (the late Jazz Organist - Jimmy Smith), but plain ol' WHITE' English ..... ME.

When I was a very young artiste - performing professionally, the music paper Melody Maker  contacted my family and said that they had been contacted by the other chap's Manager - and requested that I change MY name because there was already a 'Jimmy Smith' in the music world.  "Not a bit of it" - said my family. "It's HIS name and WE were using it BEFORE he was" !! (The Cheek).. We didn't hear any more.   I might add.... I'm a great lover of his music and talent !.

  On that note, I CAN say that I could FILL the Albert Hall with my NAME & billing ..... and EMPTY the building the moment I walk on stage!.
